This
is a mock up of what our poster might look like, we wanted the mysterious and grunge aspect
by blurring out Amal's face we believed we have achieved the
look of mystery but still keeping Rhea's hand in we revealed some of what the movie might be about.

EVALUATION
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
my media product uses and
develops the typical convention of a thriller. For inspiration we watched a
film of the same genre "SCREAM" which was targeted at the same
audience and followed the same narrative. From this film our product had
developed forms and conventions of a thriller film. We used camera shots to
create tension and build up suspense, this allowed the audience to feel more
involved in the film. Some of the shots we used were also used in the movie we mimicked
this to help build up even more tension e.g. the crab shot was used at the beginning
to make an eerie environment.
we challenged the form that
victims are mostly young white blonde girls we used a black Muslim girl
instead, we added humour in the middle to put the audience at ease before
getting to the actual murder and for them acknowledge our decision for a
different feature.
Our film embodies certain groups
in society so that audience won’t feel like the film is made for certain types
of people. Using a female as the victim is on the foundation of typical
characters in thrillers; however we contrasted this by adding a male because
our group was made of only girls. The fact our opening was to cater to the
thriller genre, it was hard to understand if all types of the audience would
like this certain genre of film. We believed an all-girl group would shed some
light on our understanding of a thriller minus the stigma of thrillers being
The target audience for this film
is 15+. We understood the appearance involved with thrillers involving male
adults; nevertheless we debated the opinion that it usually depends on the
likes and hate of the persons in the audience. So we decided not to group the
aim audience as a whole.
In the process of constructing
our media product we found that technology has developed massively and as a
result films have become better quality and audiences are able to engange even
more than ever .
Going back on our preliminary
task we can see that we developed more knowledge on how to make a film. If we
never learnt the thriller conventions including the theories of Todorov and
Propp we wouldn’t have had any idea on how to do this task. The camera shots
were quite easy because they allowed us to see them in angles that were easily
understood to us. On the other hand our group never realised the many features
of the film so it led to us to discuss this after acknowledging the actors,
location, sound, roles and responsibilities.

Camera issues
There were many problems facing us as we were filming. Some scenes were lost as we were sharing the camera with other groups. We had to re-film those and this wasted valuable time.

Planning - Target Audience
Even though our opening thriller consists of the typical teenage girl bully becoming victim to a repeatedly provoked girl who has been lead to killing, becoming a killer, it doesn't necessarily mean that the film is aimed at only the teenage age group. Even though it has to be aimed at 15 years above due to the movie classification, we thought that the idea of producing a thriller would not only attract those teens attracted to psychological horror thrillers but also the adults who enjoy them and even the investigation and chase rather than the killing. By attracting a wide age range, thus widening our audience, we succeed in catering to a major percentage of the general target audience. The debate about thriller's being more of a man's 'thing' can been argued that it depends on the tastes of the individual, therefore the gender stigma attached to a woman's 'supposed' taste is no more than a stereotype. Our opening thriller will not cater to a certain type of gender and by supporting this we introduced Nicholas to constrast the female roles of killer and victim.

Filming difficulties:
At first we decided to go with Nick coming out of the toilet to bump into Amal
but on the day of filming Nick could not be found so we replaced him with Tadfaswa
who did Nick's scene, we believed that it came out better without Nick as Tadfaswa had
better acting skills.
Filming was made even more difficult by people walking by while the camera was rolling
as we decided to film the beginning scene in the hall way. This made filming difficult as we had to do certain scene many times.#
Amal changed her clothing so some scene were re-filmed,we kept certain scene like the one with point of view, one of her looking at herself in the mirror and the crab shot as her clothing was not visible
